So how did this all come about? I had dreamed about doing some sort of motorbike road trip after seeing Long Way Round & Long Way Down as well as reading Ted Simon's Jupiter's Travels but the plan was not formulated immediately after watching & reading these.
The basic idea came about after re-watching Long Way Round & a status update on Facebook that I was watching Long Way Round so naturally one of my biker mates suggests our own road trip. Of course we do not have the time or budget to do anything on the same scale. Next best thing, travel the length of New Zealand.
The plan was to go as a group (at least four of us) but the realities of life & work meant that only two of us were able to take this trip. Hopefully next time we can have more of a convoy.
