What is this all about? Well it is a motorbike road trip from Auckland, New Zealand to the bottom of the South Island. We are travelling all the way down to Bluff, New Zealand.
The plan is to leave Auckland on 10th December 2016 & take a fast ride down to Wellington as we are booked on the Interislander on the afternoon of 11th December.
Once we land on the South Island we had planned to travel down the East Coast taking the best roads, however, after the recent earthquakes on the Upper South Island & Lower North Island we had to rethink our route. This means that we will have to unfortunately bypass Kaikoura which suffered a lot of destruction with the latest earthquakes.
Where possible we will continue to travel down the East Coast & then on our return up the island we will take a West Coast route. From Picton we will head south west & based on advice from a friend we are planning to avoid SH63 as this is not that safe to travel on at the moment.
Once we hit Murchison, we plan to head east & then continue down the East Coast. Well that's the plan but it is a very lose plan with the attitude of we'll see what happens & react accordingly…
