The Women Riders World Relay started in Scotland in February 2019 & has travelled through 55 countries. The baton will arrive in New Zealand on the 6th September with the New Zealand legs starting the 7th September.

There are 8 legs in the New Zealand section of the relay. These will be covered over 4 days starting in Waitangi & ending in Invercargill.

I will be participating in 4 legs of the relay ‐ the North Island legs.

  • Day 193 ‐ Leg 1: Copthorne Resort Waitangi to Hampton Downs
  • Day 193 ‐ Leg 2: Hampton Downs to Taupo
  • Day 194 ‐ Leg 3: Taupo to Bulls
  • Day 194 ‐ Leg 4: Bulls to Wellington

I would have liked to have participated in all 8 legs as it would be an awesome experience completing the whole New Zealand section of the relay. Plus I would have loved to have ridden the South Island again. But it is exciting to think I will participate in part of the relay.

The organisers have been very thorough in ensuring every entrant is fully informed about what to expect with each leg of the relay as well as providing safety tips, things to pack & little tips to help the relay go smoothly.

For more information on the relay & to track it you can visit the WRWR website

Once the relay has begun in New Zealand, I'll be posting more blog entries about my experience.
